About Me

I lived in the george's Road area from birth to age 9, when in 1964 we moved to Reddish, as this area was due to be demolished.

I first lived on Longsight street before making the long distance move to Todd Street, just around the corner.

I have nothing but happy memories of this period of my life. Even though we lived in a two up two down no hot water and an outside toilet.

Hi Bill
We lived at Sparth Lane and then Colin Road . Ian is on a couple of the photographs in Miss Halsall's class. It is lovely to look back at the photos I am on the school choir photo on the back row 3rd from the left. I was laughing at photo with my son as my mum used to put 'rollers' in my hair for EVER school photo ha ha. I looked on the school site as my husband took me over to Stockport for a Valentine's day curry and we passed the Church and so many memories came flooding back. I would love to come back in daylight and have a look around. My best friend Linda Heathcoat lived on Love Lane. I live over at Littleborough now it's about half an hour away. We moved around a lot after Christ Church because late mum and dad had pubs. I went to Fylde Lodge after (I can't for the life of me remember head teacher) the head put me in for my 11+ a year early. I remember many of the faces on the school choir photo but I am terrible with names!!!!! OLD AGE I suppose. I am 60 in September and so must most of the people in the photo. So nice of you to put the photos on the site Bill bringing back so many happy memories. Lovely to hear from you and hope to keep in touch. I have heard from Charmine Marland whom I remember by name from Ian so I will answer her with a rew memories too. Thanks again Bill

I don't remember that myself Eddie. Don't think I was there, but Dek says he remembers it.

Bill mention of c&c formerly jewsbury&Browns, did you ever go with any of us at night or weekends along a very dangerous brick ledge with a 20 ft drop into the Mersey,to help ourselves to soda syphons, which we took for refunds to off door on Brinksway Rd.I think Dek may have done?
